"Lets stop dancing around mental health conversations." -Susan Crooks, of Walt's Waltz
Remember 988!!
988 is now the three-digit dialing code that routes callers to the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (or 988 Lifeline). On July 16, 2022, the Lifeline transitioned away from the National Suicide Prevention Line, previously reached through a 10-digit number, to the new much easier to remember three-digit 988 Lifeline phone number. It is funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and administered by Vibrant Emotional Health (Vibrant).

Mary Allen Co-Founded the nonprofit "Cure Brain Disease", which is focused on advocating legislation and funding for early detection of "High Risk" mental health conditions, and fostering the development of novel curative therapies to treat them. Special attention is given to her initiative, “Following Daniel’s Lead”, named after her son Daniel, which focuses on the importance of reducing stigma through educational efforts.
'Cure Brain Disease' celebrates coming into the final four of The ARPA-H Dash to Accelerate Health Outcomes (ARPA-H Dash) In their efforts to bring greater visibility to the issues of mental health.

Bill Gibson shared with us information about his organization, The C.A.R.R.S. Project, a community based organization which focuses on addiction recovery, and post-incarceration reentry services.
The C.A.R.R.S. Project engages the community by creating spaces and platforms for people to find support. Their Facebook page is a public forum to discuss local support options, and events, to strengthen inner-city communities which are therapeutically underserved.
Susan Crooks and her son Will founded Walt's Waltz as an organization focused on supporting mental wellness. Their organization focuses on educating the community on how to deal with anxiety and depression, and advocating for funding for mental health research. Their programs incorporate painting, music, and performing arts with an eye towards reducing community suffering and mental health stigma.
